The NewsTeller app functions as a news reader for RDF, RSS, and Atom feeds, compatible with iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and CarPlay. It offers users the ability to listen to news feeds audibly, making it suitable for use in vehicles, during exercise, or while multitasking. Users can download high-quality text-to-speech voices directly from their devices to enhance audio playback.

It is important to note that the app randomly selects voices per language group, with options classified as either premium or enhanced to optimize listening quality. The app employs artificial intelligence, specifically Core ML, to personalize the order of recent stories based on timing and user behavior, updating its model at each startup.

Connected to CarPlay, the application displays all subscribed feeds within the dashboard interface. Each feed allows users to listen to individual stories and view associated imagery. Playback controls include the ability to skip forward or backward at will.

For offline listening, users can save stories to a pinboard by completing downloads before departure. This feature enables access to content without requiring an internet connection.

Additionally, users with an Apple Watch can view story summaries or listen directly through the device, providing convenient access on the go.

The application is designed with privacy in mind; it does not store personal data on servers. All user preferences are maintained locally on the device. Furthermore, no content from the feeds is replicated or processed on the server side.

The app continuously gathers anonymous data to learn which stories are preferred by users, leveraging Apple’s AI technology (Core ML) to improve content sorting and recommendations over time.

New feeds are regularly added, and users can filter them via intelligent keywords to easily identify topics of interest.
